You were born to make an impact. How do I know? The Bible tells me so!
Philippians 2:13 For it is God who works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Or how about this one?
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them.
And yet another…
Proverbs 18:16 A man’s gift makes room for him, and brings him before great men.
The gift is holy spirit. It’s in you. It’s ready and willing. All you have to do is follow the spirit’s lead. This is called walking by the spirit in Romans 8, Galatians 5 and elsewhere. Once you’ve been ‘born from above’ (born again), you have the spirit of God within you and He directs your steps according to His Word and Will.
Do you think you can make an impact by walking in the spirit of the Lord? What else could be the result? Every time God moves, great impact is made in people’s lives. When He moves in you, through his gift of holy spirit, what you say and do will also make an impact — the impact God wants to make.
How Do I Know God is Working Within Me?
It’s very simple. Most of the time you do not know. That’s right. Sorry to disappoint you. Most of the time you cannot know. It’s not your fault and it’s nothing to be concerned about. God’s will — God’s plans — are so far above ours and beyond our ability to perceive that we can’t even understand what He’s doing, but we do know why. God has revealed his purpose for everything He is doing in Scripture.
I Timothy 2:4 [God] Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.
Colossians 1:18-20 And he {Christ Jesus] is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
For it pleased the Father that in him should all fullness dwell;
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
These scriptures reveal God’s great purpose which He “purposed within Himself” and which He will absolutely accomplish according to his Will. God’s purpose in your life is to conform you to the image of His son.
Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
God knew you would believe Him when the good news about Jesus was presented to you. So He had it presented to you. You believed. He accomplished His Will and will continue to do so until you are fully conformed to the image of His son. Every single believer will be just like Jesus Christ in purpose, attitude and actions as we submit to God’s will.
As y0u walk with God and our Lord Jesus Christ, you will be making a tremendous impact in people’s lives. God is behind this, God will bring it to pass. It’s His will He is working out in this world and you, His child, are His instrument to bring it to pass. We cannot even oppose God’s will because He is sovereign; His will WILL be done on earth, even as it is in heaven.
Make an impact by walking closely with God, day by day. Don’t worry about how it is going to work out, just trust that God is at work within you to will and to do of His good pleasure. Say whatever it is you feel God is inspiring you to say. Do whatever it is you think God is inspiring you to do.
You have God’s Word of truth to weigh these things against. He won’t ask you to do anything contrary to His Word. Be wise and learn God’s Word as much as you can; this is your foundation for decision-making when it comes to responding to the leading of God’s holy spirit in your life.
Do yo have to know God’s Word in order for God to work within you? No. Are you surprised? If God waited for everyone to learn His Word before He could move in and through them, His hands would be tied. You’ll often realize after the fact that it was God who moved in certain situations. You didn’t recognize it at the time, but you realize it later. This is common when walking by the spirit. It all boils down to this:
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
If you’re like me, you like to know in advance whether something is ‘of God’ or is not. It’s uncomfortable for me to start something not knowing whether God truly wants me to or not. But believing God works within me to will and to do of His good pleasure, I just go ahead and act as long as what I want to do isn’t in plain violation of His Word. God knows my weaknesses. He knows my inconsistencies. He knows my doubts and my fears. He also knows my strengths, but as the apostle Paul said, he uses the ‘weak’ things of the world to ‘confound the wise.’
God loves you just as you are right now. He’s not waiting for you to become a super-believer, a super-strategies or a super person in order to work within you to accomplish His will. He works with you right now, right where you are in your thinking and your belief system. Trust him and go for it. Make an impact! You were born to make an impact.
