Have you made a decision to not make a decision about Jesus Christ? If so, you are one of the millions of people sitting on the fence, waiting for some event in the future that will propel you to finally decide. You are not alone and I do understand your situation.
In this article, I’d like to address some of the reasons why people decide to not make a decision for Christ and why it’s in your best interest to make that decision right now, this moment, wherever you are and whatever you may be doing.
Why People Do Not Make a Decision for Christ
If you haven’t made a decision for Christ yet, see if any of these common reasons fit your life.
1) I’m too busy at this time in my life
2) I want to have fun; I’ll make that decision when I get older
3) It’s too restricting, I want to have fun while I can
Those are the top three reasons I’ve encountered and they are all similar in nature. The underlying reason for all of these is the same — “I”. The great “I” is your obstacle to enjoying complete freedom and the opportunity to learn about the spiritual realm and develop your true capabilities.
Selfishness is a funny thing. While you think you’re preserving your freedom so you can do whatever it is you want to do — pursue business, have sex whenever you want and with whomever you want, or just be whatever it is you want to be and do whatever you want to do — you’re really limiting yourself. Have you heard the phrase, “Don’t spite your nose to save your face?” While you think you are preserving your own freedom, you are doing the exact opposite.
Why You Need to Make A Decision for Christ Now
I’d like you to consider the alternative — making a decision for Christ right now, this moment in time. Just consider what I have to say and then make your decision either way.
Here are the top 3 reasons to make your decision for Christ right now:
1) You could die before you wake.
This reason is obvious. If you die before you decide for Christ, that’s the way you’ll be presented to God — as one who had the opportunity to make a decision for Christ but willfully chose not to. How pleased do you think God will with your feeble explanations that are self-centered around what you thought was a ‘better life’ without him?
Don’t you think it’s safer for you to make your decision for Christ while you can? You don’t know what will happen tomorrow, let alone later today. Putting off your decision can only harm yourself. In your selfishness you actually harm yourself much more than you gain.
2) Life walking with God and our Lord Jesus Christ is infinitely more fulfilling than not.
We live in a spiritual world. There’s a spiritual realm that you cannot see that governs life. When you join yourself to Christ you become a spiritual human being and you can begin to explore that spiritual world. You’ll find new abilities you didn’t know you had before. As you walk with God you’ll begin to experience things you never would have before and those experiences are richer than anything you have ever or will ever experience in the natural realm.
That’s just a small taste of what you’ll have when you confess Jesus is Lord and believe God raised him from the dead. Once you do that and begin to walk with God the doors will be opened wide for whatever it is that God places on your heart to do. He knows you better than you know yourself and he knows what your true desires. God will place new desires on your heart that fit you and your personality and he will help you bring those things to pass.
3) We are in a spiritual war and God needs people who walk with him to help others.
If you were the chief commander in a worldwide battle, would you need people on your side to combat the enemy? Of course you would. God needs people too. If you don’t believe me, all you have to do is read the Bible. I can think of several verses right off the top of my head, but at this point you’d probably say something like, “I couldn’t do that” or “that isn’t me.” At this point in your life I’d have to agree with you but once you become God’s then you’ll see the real you and what your real capabilities are.
One More Reason to Decide Now
There are many more reasons to make your decision for Christ right now, but I’d like to leave you with one you’ve probably never heard before.
Christians in our day and time who believe are called the “Firstfruits” and “Elect” of God. We’re the ‘first group’ to believe. If you didn’t know it, let me tell you — Jesus Christ will return to this planet and take those who believe off of it before the coming judgement of those who remain. People will still be able to believe at that time, but they are not called the ‘elect’ or the ‘firstfruits.’
The firstborn son gets the inheritance. All who believe in Christ share in the inheritance that Jesus Christ was awarded when God raised him from the dead. He is the firstborn from the dead and we who believe in him in this day and time are reckoned the same. The elect of God have a special place in the new heaven and earth to come. Perhaps you weren’t aware of that one. Will you still spite your nose to save your face? Will you still put off your decision for Christ knowing that you might very well sacrifice your share of the inheritance of ‘all things’ with Christ?
Make Your Decision for Christ Right Now
If you really want to be ‘selfish’ and just think of yourself, that’s up to you. But consider this. Your decision for Christ gives you infinitely more — for eternity — than choosing not to decide. I suppose you could think of it as the ultimate ‘selfishness’ but it’s really not. The point is that if you are even considering whether to confess Jesus as Lord then God has put it on your heart. He has called you. It’s up to you. If he has called you then he wants you to be part of his kingdom and the perfect world to come. You will never receive any invitation to do anything that could match that.
Decide for Christ right now. Don’t put it off. You can decide right now, wherever you are, whatever you are doing. Here’s how.
Romans 10:9, 10 If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus
and believe God raised him from the dead
you shall be saved.
For with the heart man believes unto righteousness
and with the mouth confession is make unto salvation.
Decide now.
Did you? If not what on earth (yes it will be an ‘earthly’ thing) is stopping you?
If you did, welcome to God’s family — I look forward to meeting you and working together with you to help others make that same decision.
