A new 8-story Bible museum is being built Washington DC and is being funded by Hobby Lobby president Steve Green. The new museum, called “The Museum of the Bible” is being built right at the heart of our nation’s capital amidst an “illustrious group of research and cultural institutions.” There’s no better place for it in my opinion. The Word of God should never have left our capital but, in effect, it largely has. Our hats are off to Steve Green for doing this, and our praise goes to God who gave us His Word in the first place.
The nation’s capital is slated to become home to an eight-story, hi-tech Bible museum in the fall of 2017, courtesy of Hobby Lobby President Steve Green.
The Museum of the Bible will join an illustrious group of research and cultural institutions located in and around the National Mall.
“As many people as we can educate about this book, the better,” Green told the Washington Post. “I think seeing the biblical foundations of our nation — for our legislators to see that…a lot of that was biblically based, that we have religious freedoms today, which are a biblical concept, it can’t hurt being there.”
From literature and fine arts to architecture, education and science, the 430,000-square-foot Museum of the Bible will explore scripture’s impact on world culture and modern-day civilization.
The museum is Green’s antidote for an American culture that’s becoming biblically illiterate.
“We have probably the most ignorant population we’ve ever had in our society [about the Bible] because it’s been taken out of our schools,” he told the Baptist Press.
“We want to be able to, in a simple way, explain to them, ‘Here’s what the Bible is,’” he said. “Ultimately, it’s about the fact that we are sinners, we need a Savior, and Christ was that. And He came to die for us that we might have life.”
“We invite everyone — adults and children, the intellectually curious and most seasoned of scholars alike — to Museum of the Bible to explore the most important and influential book ever written,” Green said.
Construction is set to begin this October.

The Museum of the Bible will help to emphasize the need for biblical knowledge among the citizens and inhabitants of the United States. In a culture that has become largely biblically illiterate, this Bible museum is a great addition to our nation’s resources. Remember that God magnifies His Word above His name; should we not do the same?
Psalm 138:2 I will worship toward your holy temple, and praise your name for your lovingkindness and for your truth: for you have magnified your word above all your name.
