Let’s do something for Jesus!
“But what?” you ask. Let’s see. how about… pray for your city or town. Pray for God’s people in it. Pray for the light of God’s Word to shine through; pray for love to prevail. This is one of the powerful things you can do for Jesus; pray for the area and the people you live in. There are many other things we can do if we take the time and have the compassion to do them. How many can you think of that are within your power to do?
I believe God spoke this phrase to me when I was praying and thinking about how to relaunch the Christian Culture Center. I wanted something that would attract the type of people who really want to do something for Jesus. The phrase just popped into my head. Then I wrote a song about it that I will record as soon as possible so I can share it with you. It’s called, “Let’s Do Something for Jesus!” But you probably guessed that!
The phrase is straightforward, easy to understand and quite exciting as it contains not only adventure but challenge. Why challenge? Because we live in this world and the world is geared to distract you and make it hard for you to actually do something for Jesus. But with God’s help, you can do what He’s asked you to do. Yes you can!
As we abide in our Lord Jesus Christ, he will abide in us and we shall bring forth fruit that remains (John 15). When I think about doing something FOR Jesus, I naturally thing about what he wants and what I can do WITH Jesus, for in that same section of scripture (John 15) Jesus says, “…for without me you can do nothing.” So whenever we are dong something Jesus wants, we are not only doing it FOR him, but WITH him. That is exciting. That’s powerful. That’s life changing. And only that can change the world.
What that means to me is that, starting with myself, I need to know what Jesus wants — first from the written Word of God, since that’s the purpose for which it was given, and secondly to walk with him minute by minute, hour by hour, and day by day to listen and receive his guidance and direction as well as his encouragement.
I’m looking for a core group of about 2000 people who really want to do something for Jesus. The number is somewhat arbitrary, but I feel with that number of people we can really start do do things that make small incremental gains for our Lord Jesus Christ in this world. Many small incremental gains will lead to a large movement that will make an impact in our societies and culture.

As a Christian, you are a vital member of the body of Christ. Each member has a part. The foot can’t say to the hand I have no need of you… as explained in I Corinthians 12-14. I don’t know what your part is and you may not even know yet. But as you act you will find out, that’s for sure. The body of Christ has no useless parts. Every part is needed; every part is valuable.
Remember also that Jesus only asks you to do your part. You may be someone who loves to pray, you may be someone who loves to sing — or write — or talk to people or to run a business, serve food, or one or more of a myriad of things. Whatever it is, just do your part. Don’t think you have to be an apostle Paul or a superstar teacher or the next business maverick. Jesus has accepted you unconditionally and in terms of your service in the body of Christ, just do whatever you have to offer that’s straight from your heart and is ethical and moral.
So let’s do something for Jesus! Let’s do it now! Will you help me find the committed Christians we need to start this new work that helps empower others to do whatever it is God wants them to do? Start with yourself. Then invite a few others. With our Lord’s help, we will succeed and quickly.
Thanks for your help.
Now, let’s do something for Jesus!
